two hotels in the event there are cancellations. We have recently arranged with the Hotel Blue for a block of rooms. The Hotel Blue is located 1.5 miles from the Hotel Albuquerque. It is on Central Avenue (717 Central Avenue, N.W.) and thus, on the public bus line. The rooms are available for $69 single/night (King) and $79 double/night (Two Queens). Hotel Blue provides complimentary WiFi and free airport shuttle. There is a shuttle that will transport to and from the Hotel Albuquerque. Free hot breakfast in the morning. All of the sessions, receptions, and formal events will be held at the Hotel Albuquerque. The Hotel is adjacent to the historic Old Town section of the City; it has an attractive Spanish/Southwest décor. There is one problem. There are only 188 guest rooms and they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The guest room rate for SfAA registrants is a very competitive $128/night, single/double. Two blocks away, the Rio Grande Motel www.riograndeinn.com is a Best Western franchise, but a click or so above the customary level. Rooms are $103/night, single/double, and a discount is offered for breakfast at their restaurant. For reservations please call the toll free reservations number -- 800-959-4726, or

for Applied Anthropology" to obtain the discounted rate. Also notable, the Rio Grande has a complimentary airport shuttle.
The Monterey Non-smoking Motel nonsmokersmotel.com (this is really the official name, in bright neon) is four blocks away, and has a small number (9-10) of very clean rooms in the $55-65 range.
Across the street from the Monterey, a very welcoming young family, the Barons, manage the Econolodge (also, four blocks from the Hotel Albuquerque) www.econolodge.com/hotel-albuquerque-new_mexico-NM019. There are 40 guest rooms in the $55-65 range. Complimentary add-ons: a hot breakfast and WiFi in the guest rooms. The Econolodge also rents bicycles at a very reasonable rate ($10/day).
The Casas de Suenos Old Town Historic Inn is an adobe style compound which features 21 spacious casitas, hot tub suites, glowing fireplaces, soft adobe walls, hidden courtyards, inviting patios and beautiful gardens. Rooms must be booked by calling the hotel directly (505) 247-4560 (NO Online Reservations). The Reservation Desk is available Monday through Sunday 8:00am – 9:00pm MST. The booking guest must mention the Society for Applied Anthropology Group to receive the special meeting rate. A sumptuous, crafted breakfast is included, as is WiFi.
The Hotel Andaluz is the City’s only Four Diamond hotel. Located on Central Avenue, it is the City’s only luxury boutique hotel. It was completely redecorated several years ago and is now LEED certified and a model of energy conservation. The Mediterranean theme is reflected in the lobby, guest rooms, and an excellent restaurant, “Lucia”. Registrants can use the City bus (across the street) and be dropped off 15 minutes later at a stop three blocks from the Hotel Albuquerque. Guest rooms are a very reasonable $149. The Bottger Mansion of Old Town www.bottger.com is a large Historic Bed and Breakfast with an enclosed garden and situated adjacent to Old Town, and two blocks from the Hotel Albuquerque. There are seven rooms (ranging between $115-159); a large breakfast is complimentary and parking is included.
The Holiday Inn and Suites Old Town is a mile from the Hotel Albuquerque. Newly-constructed and tribally-owned, it is across from the Pueblo Cultural Center. The lean of budget and the adventurous of heart may be interested in the Route 66 Hostel www.rt66hostel.com. The converted residence has shared ($20/night) and private ($25, $30, $35) rooms. A free breakfast is available and guests may access the kitchen facilities. The Hostel is located on Central Avenue, about a mile from the Hotel Albuquerque and on the City bus line. The Hostel is clean and “drug free”.
